A growing body of research into the specific needs of adolescents reinforces the importance of schools providing a range of ‘out of class’ activities that engage learners in real life, action based experiences. Active learning opportunities enable students of all abilities to use and further develop a range of personal and collective talents and skills through the pursuit of enquiry based learning. 

About ‘Spanning the City’ 
The City Centre offers active, challenging learning for 14 to 16 year olds who are hungry to discover more about their world. Each school group participates in a program of action research in which the students take the lead through group project design, research and execution, city familiarisation, city safety, personal development and skill development. Through independent exploration of the urban environment, students learn vital educational and life skills that both engage and excite them.

The transition from primary school to secondary college is a significant and challenging time for all students.  Norwood Secondary College is proud of its Transition Program which is tailored to meet the needs of all incoming students.  A smooth and positive progression from primary to secondary school is facilitated.

To support students during this transition phase so that they can maximize their learning and take advantage of the many opportunities which the College provides, Norwood Secondary College offers a very comprehensive program.
